No offensive rythm this time. Another bad outing...
Once more I wonder how things are running. As I said before player speed is way too much important in the engine. I just was tarched by too 65 overall RB... Not so good, except 80+ speed... My RB is 68 speed, way better overall, but not the same stats in all the games...
And can someone explain how is it possible a 90+ LT can give up 4 sacks in a game... to sub 80, maybe sub 70 DL ??? I drafted very high my OL, but I'm wondering if I didn't wasted my time, and my picks because of the playing results...
I really love this game but those things are making me crazy...
Thanks for your advise to a better understanding
Your RB is a North/South straight line RB, he doesn't have the speed to get to the edge or breakaway speed. Stuff it up his jumper and run up the gut. I would expect him to get better as the game goes on and defenses tire. If he's not running 20+ times a game you'll struggle to win.
If you want to improve his speed, convert him to WR and continue playing him at RB. Or you could line him up at FB and use him as an extra blocker and pass catching FB. Alternatively, line him up at TE where, like FB speed is less important.
If you're struggling with sacks, you're probably calling slow developing plays, throw more quick release short passes in to your gameplan.
Run up the middle, with the occasional outside run - this will draw your opponents coach to stack the box, stuffing the run and forcing pressure as your O line is outgunned by the extra defenders.
To counteract this and keep the D 'honest' throw quick release slants, hooks, curls, drags, use play action and dump off to the RB with throws to the flats. The D will adjust by backing up, giving you room to run again as well as enabling you to attempt a deep ball every now and then to stop them creeping back up to 8 in the box.
Sometimes you have to run to open up the pass, sometimes you need to pass to open up the run.
Speed is a key factor, but not as significant as it used to be. However for RB/WR/DB it is imperative and you should be looking for 80+ speed anything below 70 I will either convert to FB/TE or WR - SS or MLB for CB's.
Check the free agent pool for RB's with Speed/Accel and preferably strength. Throw in ball carrying and a 50-60 overall RB can be devastating when he gets into open field. If you can't find a player, then trade for the sort of player you want.
