I want to say GG Inmates, but I'm not sure what game we are playing. The game has once changed beyond recognition and again unless you have the time to sit and analyse what's working and what isn't, you will be a perennial loser. Too many changes too soon.

Nice to see after one game that some teams have clinched a play off spot

Good game London, we lost at the Tube Station last year so this was always going to be a key game. Always good to be 1-0

That's a harsh assessment, I think everyone wants to see changes but it's a very human thing to do to resist those changes. The current version of the game can also receive the same criticism "unless you have the time to sit and analyse what's working and what isn't, you will be a perennial loser" and "Nice to see after one game that some teams have clinched a play off spot"

Give it some time, it's a work in progress and right now, no-one really knows what works and we're all running around trying to nail that down. As you know, with my Leagues I do a fair bit of statistical analysis and share with the whole group - that should help people get a general feel of where to focus their energies.

From pre-season games to date, I would say running is more important, OL and DL are vital - and therefore justifying their trade values. Pressure is high so QB judgment is more noticeable. The players technical attributes are at a much more even level so it's not just about speed any more. That's not to say speed isn't still the major influencer, just that you could/should be able to gameplan against it now.

It's worth following the latest threads on software development in MFN-1 - by getting involved in that chat you can have some input in how the game develops from here. https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/forums/6

I'll caution with this, though.

If the game has been made so that no matter how well you parse the offensive plays, align your depth chart, dig into over-rides....that no matter how deep you get in there that there's no way to separate yourself from the pack to generate offensive stats.

The motivation to sit down before Preseason Game #1 to create a fierce game plan diminishes because there's no Golden City or Treasure to work your *** off towards.

All roads will lead to the same stat out-puts, no matter what you do so why bother.

Too much offense has never been the problem with v4.5. We all need the motivation/something to achieve to continue playing. I know my speed usage brought you over to Beta for changes. That's great but here's the thing: I never won more than 3 titles in a row in a league.

The true problem was when GMs ran off a legit 2.5 years in real life - holding onto a league's title for 12 seasons and JDB did nothing about it. That's when you intercede. To halt what ends the fun for everyone. 12 titles in a row should never ever happen.

Why do you assume everything is about you?

You accept there is a problem

So lets work to a solution and a better game.

This version is different, doesn't necessarily mean it's better (or worse) but the game needs to change, to develop, to evolve. You, I and everyone else can have as much or as little say in that development and the route it takes as everyone else.

I got involved in MFN-1 because of the Punt Block. I had several ideas as to how it could be adapted and put my thoughts forward for discussion. There's no reason why anyone else cannot do the same. You seem to think I want to stop certain plays, it's the opposite. I want more plays to be viable (offensively and defensively) to increase the variety in gameplanning.

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with the FL Hitch but there should be zone defenses/nickel schemes that kill it stone dead. A smart ILB or Nickelback would know after seeing the play a few times to be wary of it and block the receivers route or time a run for an interception/knockdown. All plays should have a risk/reward element, if there's reward with no risk it becomes boring.

Exactly. I'll start on the defensive side of the ball.

JDB needs to re-wire the system completely and inform us that the button gets hit on a certain date and/or as a league's new season rolls over.

Currently constituted if you run up against a joker utilizing a 2 defensive play structure of the MAN Flat OLB Zone and the 46 Heavy 2 Deep Man (whatever that's officially called, I may be off) you will lose unless your defensive play structure is winnowed down to have a legit chance at winning. (10-12 defensive plays) If you're running any more than that vs. a joker like that - you're done. Why?

The Joker takes on no risk with those 2 plays and even runs you up in the negative familiarity with your offense on each of its appearances while you're playing fair and he'll eventually pop you on a blitz or a vulnerable play.

I got a bunch to say on offense but I'll stick with that.

Agreed, but this is a conversation for MFN-1, as jdb is unlikely to read it in here.

Don't worry, I won't inundate your league with back and forths. I'll just comment here and there.

JDB's aware. I've been vocal in a few spots/leagues; ones which house Ray in 'em, therefore, it gets back.

Just spotted why you've posted this, it looks like a glitch following the switch to the 7-team playoff format.

If you remember last season the 'playoff picture' tab was set for 6 teams and it was a little surprising when 7 qualified after regular season. The two teams marked as x- (qualified) are both in the #7 seed. I doubt either will finish in the #7 berth but it would create quite the conspiracy theory if they did ;o)
