Re: Most Important Attributes by Position (Revised and Updated)

I have had multiple people ask me during drafts or via PM, so here y'all go. These are my notes on my current weights. I'm posting most relevant positions, but there are a few positions that I play in very specific ways, and my weights are probably not going to help anyone.

Standard warnings apply: Use at your own risk and all that.

NOTE: These are EXPERIMENTAL and likely to change. But they are close.

QB - INT 100, FOV 66, PAC 44, ARM 33, SCR 16
* INT determines the receiver in the QB's FOV he'll throw to.
* INT determines playknowledge, which is 20% of a QB's accuracy score
* FOV determines the QB's vision field: 100 FOV = 170 degrees
* Look Off causes the QB to look off the Safety, but the Safety is usually out of position anyway, so I put this at 1

RB - SP 100, BC 33, AC 24, ST 16, AF 16, BT 8, INT 8
* Speed kills.
* If you want a bruiser, raise ST up to 33. A 90+ SP, 90 ST back will push a pile.
* Ball Carry keeps a player accelerating or at speed longer.
* INT determines play knowledge.
* Break Tackle is modified by Speed, not Strength.

WR - SP 100, BRA 44, RR 44, CTH 22, ACC 16, IN 16, CRG 16
* Speed kills.
* Route running determines separation on short routes (rolled against M2M).
* Route running determines how long a player stutters (length of stutter is inversely proportional to route attribute).
* B&R Avoid avoids jams
* B&R Avoid wins handfighting down the field
* INT determines when a WR will extend a route for a first down
* INT determines play knowledge

TE - SP 100, ACC 66, ST 66, RB 44, PB 44, BRA 44, RR 44, CTH 22, CRG 16, INT 16, DI 8
* Combination of WR and OL weights
* All the WR things apply
* More ACC for TEs because TEs are heavier. ACC allows heavier players to get up to speed faster. The need for ACC is directly proportional to physical weight.

FB - SP 100, ACC 66, ST 66, RB 44, PB 44, INT 16, DI 8
* OL weights with SP

LG/LT - ST 100, ACC 66, RB 44, PB 44, SP 16, IN 16, DI 8
* LG and LT rarely pull
* ST wins the push between OL and DL
* Block skill determines how long a block is held

RG/RT - ST 100, ACC 66, RB 44, PB 44, SP 33 (RG) / 22 (RT), IN 16, DI 8
* RG pulls the most
* RT pulls on some good outside runs like the 203 toss

C - SNP 100, ACC 66, ST 66, RB 44, PB 44, IN 16, DI 8
* Short snap is used for under center and shotgun plays
* I've never heard what INT does for C, but I do not think they recognize blitz schemes (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

---

LDE - ACC 100, ST 66, SP 44, PR 33, RD 16, IN 16, TCK 8
* Most runs go to the weak side, so swap RDE and LDE when thinking of positions
* ACC for DEs to get up to full speed as quickly as possible

RDE - ACC 100, ST 66, SP 44, RD 33, PR 16, IN 16, TCK 8
* Most runs go to the weak side, so swap RDE and LDE when thinking of positions
* ACC for DEs to get up to full speed as quickly as possible

DT - ST 100, ACC 44, PR 33, RD 33, SP 16, INT 16, TCK 8
* ST here to push the interior OL to collapse the pocket and hold up against the inside run
* SP not as important since DTs rarely chase, but a 70 SP/AC, 100 ST DT will still mess up teams

OLB - SP 100, B&R 33, M2M 22, ACC 16, ST 33 (SLB) / 16 (WLB), INT 16, TCK 16 (WLB) / 8 (SLB), RD 8 (SLB) / 1 (WLB)
* I use my LBs for coverage
* Tackle is low because I deploy a swarm defense and have had a lot of success with low tackle skill players

CB - SP 100, INT 33, B&R 33, M2M 22, ACC 16
* Speed kills
* INT here to get DBs up to 100 play knowledge
* More B&R than M2M because B&R allows you to hand fight down the field and slow down WRs
* Two ways to play: (1) SP 90+ with whatever else, (2) SP 75+ with 90+ B&R

MLB / SS / FS
* NOT POSTING BECAUSE I PLAY A SPECIFIC DEFENSE THAT ISN'T USEFUL FOR MOST PLAYERS AT THIS POSITION

Well, I finally got my definitive answer on centers and long snapping. I figured why would the vital be featured so prominently if long snapping wasn't utilized for shotgun sets.

Great work and guidelines, Seth. :)

It used to be on the attributes page that JDB has since taken down. I think I have translated most of the tips from that page into other posts, but I don't know if I ever mentioned the snapping one.

Is there a breakdown of each Player Attribute somewhere that can be read?

I don't think so anymore. You might dig around the official blog, but the attributes page has been taken down.

Also, I forgot to post this. I started this thread in Rivals, but I haven't had time to update it yet: https://rivals.myfootballnow.com/forums/4/59?page=1#288

I made a quick revision to QB and WR weights in light of 0.4.4 changes. I don't have time to go into this right now, and I missed them somehow in the MFN-1 forums, so these are highly experimental:

QB
Pass Acc 100, INT 66, Release 33, FOV 33, Arm 22, Scramble 16, Hard Count / Look Off 8

WR
Catch 100, SP 66, B&R Avoid 44, Route 44, Courage 44, Int 16

You’ve got courage listed twice. Curious your thoughts on it cause I’ve been debating it myself lately. It use to be super important because QBs would throw to covered players a lot more and courage made a big difference then. Now, I’m not so sure.

I didn't mean to list it twice. It should be 44. I'll update that now.

DBs cover a lot closer now, so I've been seeing QBs stay away from low courage plays and low courage players not playing up to their other attributes. Purely anecdotal right now. I'm not sure how courage plays into the target probability function.
