We have the first £100M+ free agent in LB Corey Johansen with QB David Keaton now $94M richer. More on the bumper contracts later....

A quick look at where the big money was spent in this years free agency.

These were the players I highlighted in the preview as those likely to be drawing the biggest bounties. Corey Johansen had 22 contract offers before settling on Berlin Blitz.

MLB Corey Johanson $104M Berlin Blitz
RB Brian Perez $65M Moscow Mules
WR James Edwards $32M Florida Keys
QB David Keaton $95M Bermuda Triangles
RDE Jack Goss $51M Isle of Skye Blues
TE Jerry Prewitt $28M Moscow Mules (*5 years)
LG Timothy Laird $54M London Underground
RG Martin Herrman $7.5M Alabama Bam'A'Lam (*4 years)

Other notables included (6 year contract unless stated)

RG Tommy Dupree $23M Tasmania Devils
CB Aaron Broussard $21.5M Florida Keys *3 years
SS Kenneth Buenrostro $63M Queensland Jacks
CB David Clark $64M Machu Pichu Incas
RB Terrance Henderson $20M Oslo Aurora *5 years
CB John Hicks $24M London Underground *5 years
MLB Oscar Hightower $26M Oslo Aurora *5 years
WR Doug Perras $31M Tasmania Devils
LDE Steve Ramsey $28M Isle of Skye Blues *3 years
CB Ryan Spence $24.5M Tonquedec Snakes

Some eye-popping contracts signed with a grand total of nine deals over $50M

Whose left in the pool for round two?

There are plenty of gnarly veterans who can do a job on the OL or DL. Several possession receivers who lack the elite speed to play RB or WR2, but could convert to FB or TE.

There's also a few solid secondary players who could do a job at Safety or Linebacker. If you're in need of a QB, Henry Ramos looks the prime asset. Octavio Saldana is available after being selected at #14 in last seasons first round. Whilst he's not going to be elite, he should continue to develop into a borderline starter and if nothing else he can kick hold.

Other QB's worth a glance include Vernon Levy, Augustus Johnston, Jose Rice and Ryan Galvan. I could see all four of these competing for a starting role somewhere in the League, they're certainly worth giving a shot too in Pre-season.

Always remember there are always pearls in the Ocean, IF you dive deep enough...

So, how was Free Agency for your team, did you land a big fish, did you come up short, did you get what you want or what you need, both or neither?

Are you happy with your haul? do you still have large holes that need to be filled?

THE FIELDS OF ANFIELD ROAD

A busy, busy free agency period as we signed 16 players. We didn't get any of the 'big hitters' despite taking several swings. That of course leaves us over-stocked on players (64 on the roster), so we'll be looking to trade players and/or picks- be prepared for me to hit you up with trade offers.

I'm also open to trading up, down, in or out of the draft - make me an offer and we can go from there.

Free agent pickups.

RT Joseph Alleman
RG Gary Pace
RG Richard Taylor
LG Ricardo Gallegos
C Sami Hyppia - Re-signed
WR Leonard Romero
WR James Westcott
WR Anthony Dwayne Harrison
WR Jasper Cortez
RB Paul Davis
RB Michael Johnson
DE Victor Moore
DE Nicholas Speciale
DT Norman Nichols
LB Alexander Johnson
FS Charles Smith

Roster

QB No new additions (yet) we may look to move on from Charles 'Chesney' Hawkes as backup to Howard Spangler as we could do with a specialist kick holder. 'Spangles' is still a little raw and open to improvement so it may be prudent to bring in a veteran, rather than a rookie - we'll see which way the wind blows

RB Sadio Mane, Harry Rivera and Juan Barr are a pretty potent trio, we picked up a couple of players in free agency - Paul Davis, who we've switched to WR and Michael Johnson. Both have something to prove to make the final roster.

FB/TE Gini Wijnaldum, Luis Garcia and John Toshack remain part of the long term plans and we've asked James Westcott to try out as a TE. The former Alcatraz Inmate is said to be relishing the opportunity.

WR Wideout is a position where we have generally been a little light in previous seasons. Divock Origi was the primary target last year but may be surpassed by 2nd year player Chris Donohue. Clifford Barden led the team in receptions but age is catching up with him.

Leonard Romero moves over from divisional rivals London Underground. At 30 years old, he's likely to see time start to catch up with him but at present is the fastest player on the roster. Jasper Cortez, Paul Davis and Anthony Dwayne Harris are all expected to battle with James Hollis and John Graves for perhaps just one roster spot.

There is certainly plenty of potential to trade away some of the WR corps.

OL Ron Yeats and Neil 'Razor' Ruddock both retired during the off season, so it was no surprise to see us pick up five players from the free agent pool. Sami Hyppia rejoined us, having had his contract run down last year. He'll likely continue to start at Center, in fact the whole line may be the same for '86 with the other four new arrivals adding some quality in the depth.

K/P Dale Buller is likely to keep his job, although we may take a look at the draft class to see if there is anything better. Veteran Kicker Elisha Scott is very much in danger of losing his roster spot but again that looks like something that may be addressed via the draft.

DL We like to have a veteran presence on the DL and we're delighted to have picked up Nick Speciale, Norman Nichols and Victor Moore. That does leave us with 12 DL on the roster currently so we are likely going to look to trade away three or four.

LB Is probably the area of most concern to us right now, we did pick up former Claret Alexander Johnson, but we have moved him to Corner as we fancy he will make a decent blitzing Nickelback. Don't be surprised to see us go after a LB or two in the draft.

DB Besides moving Johnson to CB and taking a punt on FS Charles Smith, not much has gone on in the Secondary. The ageing stalwart Andy Robertson has been moved to SS and may even switch to LB or at least act as cover there as he is likely to be exposed by his diminishing pace if we were to leave him at CB.

So primarily we're looking to ship out some WR, OL and DL we're looking for draft picks in future years, a stud LB or CB. We're also prepared to move on picks or package players/picks to get the roster down below 60 following the draft.

The injury rate has been reduced for Pre-season games and will return to standard rate prior to regular season week 1

Added a new tab for 'Roster breakdowns' including current cap situation and highest paid player by team.

Just one team that is not currently complying with the League rules. PUNJABI DESTROYERS need to sign a Kicker prior to Gameweek 1. But they have plenty of time to correct that.
