Those posts are nearly 2 years old. The things they are talking about are for the most part irrelevant now.

I will admit that code 4.3 had its share of problems but they still exist in 4.4 (like multiple dropped passes, QBs "wobbly passes", terrible coverage skills from CBs and Safeties, and now even sacks are way down. DLs can't get to the QB anymore) and so not only do those problems still exist but now it's even worse with the new changes made with code 4.4. All QBs are capable of doing now is checkdowns for 1-2 yard passes and any long passes will result in a sack. And you could have the best roster and talent on your team and still lose to Al with a bad record. Rosters should mean something and each game's outcome shouldn't be like a toss of the coin.

If you run the same exact defensive play 50 of 60 times in a game. Is that unrealistic?

Asking for a friend.

Oh, and if you did any kind of work on a gameplan? You'd find other offensive plays that don't end up as checkdowns.

Your point about roster superiority is partly accurate. But it shouldn't necessarily win a game for you. Strategy and gamesmanship should factor heavily. And in my opinion, this game STILL does that. It is NOT broken.

Nice positive post though. Way to kick the dead horse some more.

Ya I realized after our game that that lame goalline defensive play was used tons of times. It's funny. I use that same gameplan in my other leagues. That defensive play gets used maybe just a few times in my other games. In ours, and I don't understand why, but it got used almost every down. That play will no longer exist in any of my teams and you will not see it in our next matchup. ;)

If it's a base defensive call like the 4-3 Normal Cover 1 with MLB in Zone, then I don't see a problem with it.

Yeah, apparently they were running AI on defense. No rules. So the opposing OC ran a lot of GL and BIG formations so it chose GL Att#1 to defend it, primarily. So there's that.

This is why I don't play roster leagues...

Man, I'd hate to see you lose a game... LOL

for what this whole mess of an old thread is, I take each update to be similar to how various rules/strategies differ over time within the NFL.
MFN seasons are short, especially in coding time. There is a remarkable amount of code put into a complex game such as this, and so called "errors" are to be expected. Updates happen frequently ( a true blessing especially in a free game), and there is an active and helpful player base combined with an active admin.programmer (jdb).
Game plans are easy to adjust, draft/build for the long term, and plenty of variables between plays available/personnel/formations/play call weights, on and on..
Anyway, if you still complainin' and you still here, and you have long term here, you should know all the above.
If you are newish, accept this factor, plan for it.
Simply one of the best strategy games an old nerd like me ever encountered.
In the NFL, the direct impact is seen in game play regarding how refs are instructed to weight and call penalties over a season... :)
