I don't mind the name drop, but I would disagree with this statement.

I've been in CUST-9 since the allocation.
I may have just won my first title in this league, but I think I have been pretty competitive.
2014: 13-3
2015: 14-2
2016: 15-1
2017: 15-1
2018: 16-0
2019: 15-1
2020: 15-1
2021: 14-2
2022: 12-4 (worst record, first championship)

This is the AI not valueing anything that actually works in the game. Its great to have all this control but the AI has limited skill and is as much to blame.

+1

Side note: I see the AI is still drafting Punters/Kickers in the first round.
Another Awful AI Pick

I would be supremely upset if I happened to be on vacation or something and wasn't able to click that link, only to find out the AI signed a bunch of bad contracts for players I no longer wanted.

Maybe it could be some kind of toggle, like the Hide Spoilers feature? It could default to "Have AI Resign FAs", but once I turn that off I never have to worry about it again.

The problem is more to do with the competition and lack of. You have 5 real good users and 27 below average to average gms experience wise your gonna get a team outta allocation draft that would compete and win like Ares franchise . Now if you added Eagle , Lellow. Sethrick, and infinity all at one time to start a season you would see a completely different league. Then the chances of that team TOSU took over winning it go from 70 percent to 30 . Estimate. Reason for that is those owners are gonna know what to do and the players they need to acquire for there scheme to be able to stop that team enough to be a good match even with a worse roster. The best way IMO to have more balanced leagues is to have beginner leagues and go up from there whatever way is best to have certain levels of the talent and experience in the owners. I think to have in depth records of owners and there history and with wins and playoff appearances they acquire a rating that can go up and down depending on there seasons. This might sound crazy but it would cut down 70 point wins and 60 TD pass seasons. Allowing a new owner to sign up and join any league is bad for the league. Having restrictions on what leagues they can join.

For what it's worth, I always found it hard to compete with Ares no matter how good my team was. He's one of (if not THE) best MFN owners ever.

People need to be patient and take the time to learn the game before they can realistically expect to compete with the better, more experienced owners in this game. I remember how excited I was the first time I beat DetroitLeo in MFN-7. He had been blowing me out game after game, and finally I won!!!! Trying to figure out how to beat him helped me learn a lot about how this game works. That experience I gained was invaluable, and there was no shortcut for me to get it.

I am strongly in favor of "rookie" or "beginner" leagues, as well as leagues that require a certain criteria to be met in order to join (as long as # of teams owned isn't one of them).

You can hypothisize all you want....the 2015 season had 15 owners who knew the innerworkings of the game or were learning. Back then nobody talked in the forums about stragety. Those 15 owners could easily be a higher number if they stayed and other new deticated owners joined. That league had talented owners that left because they knew they would lose to one of those guys. If not just London. It was easier to drop that league for what ever reason. I say it was parity

The parity is created by the desire to win or lose and i see 75 as an advanced league and all the other less. I was hoping 75 had an out. As you get fired, but oh well.

With out that looming there is no desire besides winning it all. I think Indy put up 73 one game. I am already bailing on my offense as i though allocation vets would have higher familarity. Oh well. Chalk that up to a mistake.

Really it doesnt matter i have a plan B, and it also involves not leaving 75 because it has the best parity. Even with its flaws.

well i have to disagree with this statement .

Sure it would be nice if people were to get fired because of their record which i am guessing here what you want .

the thing is i really doubt you could have really good players in a league if you wanted that because most likely if they had a bad season or even like bad case of injuries then they would be out

you get someone else in which i really doubt people would want because you could make the case that people in there you know pretty much what you are getting with those people.

And with all their imperfections and perfections you could make a case they are alot better than the alternative that you could have or get if you make it where people leave because of records.

Also there have been times i would imagine those people in that 75 league had a bad season yet they were able to come right back the next season or even they might take awhile to contend with their team.

Perhaps a more aggressive stance should be taken by the AI - right now you get the warning that you have contracts that are about to expire, but this has two problems: 1) sometimes you do want to let the contracts expire, and so you don't want to be bothered with that message after every sim because you're done, and 2) if an owner is not logging in or is just ignoring it, all their players go to free agency. (I tried to time it where if you don't log in during the time that the warning would show then you lose the team at the end of the season and the AI re-signs everyone, so it's probably more of a problem of owners not seeing and/or ignoring the warning)

What if, instead of the way it works now, as you near the end of the season you get a warning like this:

You have players who are in the last year of their contract and must be re-signed in order to continue to be on your team. If you do not offer a contract to these players before the end of the season, the AI will attempt to sign them for you. If you are not interested in re-signing these players, [click here] to clear this message for the rest of this season.

You would have the ability to close the message like you can now, which would cause it to appear again after the next sim if you still have unsigned players, as it does now. But if you were to click on the link to clear the message for the rest of the season, the message would not be displayed again and the AI would not re-sign any players to an extension. Essentially it still would give you the same control you have now but the default would be to have everyone get re-signed unless you knowingly were letting your player contracts expire.

Thoughts?

I like this idea a lot. It would stop great players going into free agency, therefore promoting parity.

In MFN65, we're in the offseason. It's newer league, so I was shocked to see the amazing quality players in FA. As it turns out, the LA owner just left his team to rot, instead of officially 'abandoning' his team to let the AI take over, he stayed in control and just stopped logging in. All his Superstars needed contracts, didn't get them, into the FA pool they went. LA is now wrecked. And some of the owners got players that technically shouldn't have been available, thus starting the Superteam issue. Can you blame the owners paying attention and picking these guys up? Nope, not their fault, they'd be crazy not to!

That new pop-up would solve, or at least improve, that problem.

The AI simply needs to do a better job keeping those players on that team.

If owner A is leaving a team for whatever reason, it should happen after the championship game the AI can run the End of Season stage by signing the FAs. Id also suggest if Owner B picks up the team during the End of Season stage, Id suggest a popup saying something like; "You have contracts pending on Free Agents. You have until this sim runs to withdraw those offers and allow them to enter Free Agency"

-OR-

If nothing else, just have the AI sign the 5 highest default rated pending FAs to the contracts they are asking for. I seriously don't think that is going to hurt a teams cap if they are signed a bit more than what they would normally accept.
