There is a difference between sending a contract offer, and having that offer accepted.

You can offer what the player is initially asking for, only to have them reject it and the next contract demand is higher.

That's the main reason not to wait until the last minute.

Well, half of my defense is GONE! and a FEW from my offense. If it don't fix itself by tomorrow, I'll just abandon the **** thing.

This, my friends, is the beginning of the "superteam" whining/complaining threads.

No one signs their FAs ..
5 or 6 teams pick up the good players ..
league is now dominated by the 5 or 6 teams ..
"Superteam" complaints start ..
those teams begin trading those players for future picks ..
now its those teams fault for having draft picks ..
more complaining about "Superteams"..
those teams now start bundling those picks for better draft picks ..
more complaining about how "Superteams" are getting even stronger.

Look, I've complained about them and now I know why I've switched my views about them. Just hunker down build your roster of young players, draft well, their players will retire ..

Seperate thought .. how days does an allocation draft last? If you're willing to set aside days to go through an allocation draft, whats 30 minutes of going through contract renewals in a few months .. to make sure your team sticks together.

you have popups that tell you when you have free agents ..
you have a renegotiation wizard to even help ..

or just quit and abandon .. because you simply don't care and let the newbie owner deal with the problem you created .. that button is just a click away ..

sorry, rant over.

Nailed it.

There is an opening in my division if you want to light up the dumpster fires in this league too.

Sometimes when discussing a topic (specifically about owners leaving) with a coworker (who is a player on here) gets mixed in with an actual topic of posting, those discussions/thoughts end up being a point of stance (or rant) on another post.

I have come to realize that my initial post on this thread should have been saved for another time. I hijacked a thread where there was an issue/concern. I took an exception to an established owner just leaving a team in bad shape for another owner.

Kenchi ... I searched the Custom 9 league thread and saw I joined that league in May 2015. As that was my first team, that would have been when I joined the MFN community. I remembered also you switching to the name Kenchi so I'm confident you've been around here longer than I.

I want to apologize to you personally on this thread for taking your issue and making it my cause. Good luck with your teams and I do hope your issue has or will be resolved.

Obviously, sounds like a def problem. And for those of you who would like to see more "active" owners stay in this game, I would strongly suggest that you help to either fix the problem or the player if that person is doing something wrong.

On the subject of "Super Teams", L14 has become a wasteland of abandoned teams. This will most likely continue to happen if a few things are not at least brought into a "balance". Does anyone here who plays and invests a lot of their time in this game enjoy seeing one or more dominant teams in their league, coming off a 14, 15 win, or undefeated season, having 2 or 3 first round picks in the next draft? That is happening for two reasons. First, the trade meter values for 1,2,3, and 4 picks are ridiculously low. Second, there are a few that are on here 24/7 it seems. who are in several to multiple leagues, who have the knowledge & experience in player & pick valuation that gives them a distinct advantage over other players, both new and experienced. One prime example is in L14, look at the upcoming draft, the previous one, and so on. Result? Players drop out, abandon their teams, for several reasons including that they have no realistic chance of competing for a league championship. The problem with unbalanced trades and super team creation can be solved with more accurate valuation on the trade meter, especially on pick value. Or, if you have a seasonal "trader" for picks in your league with a dominant team, best of luck trying to catch up to them personnel-wise. Not the only problem or concern, just the one that stands out the most to me.

Its difficult enough as it is to compete with someone who spends their entire day and night on this game, or even 3 hours or more per day, and if you want more players to both join and stay, the problem of super teams having a super advantage for draft picks, free agent acquisition, maintaining low salaries for blue chip players, salary cap structure that is not even close to a simulation of professional football. needs to be dealt with. Its not whining or complaining on my part, its identifying a primary part of the problem that is causing players to abandon their teams/leagues and also the game. Or do you like being in a league where the top team has 2 or 3 first round picks every draft? Guess you would, if you were that team.

What would be your solution? Everyone having the same players and building their entire game plan around spamming the same 4-5 plays on offense like you do?
