It really depends on the attributes and position. A 50 speed safety that is 100 in everything else may be rated a 90 but he's probably not very good.

99% sure Setherick is going to have a conniption with this.

I agree 100% with the above statement. A safety that has 50 SP and 100 in everything else is going to be burned a lot.

But then, as you always say, he shouldn't be rated a 90 in personal weights.

He wouldn't be in my weighting system. Or he might be. I'm not sure how the algorithm would work that out. I would assume that he'd be more like an 80-82.

Then again, such a player might be ideal in the red zone where acceleration, coverage and tackling ability are very important. Or short yardage situations when the offense runs the ball and the defense is called correctly. I'd take him without hesitation and use him in certain predicted formations and plays.

That wouldn't be an elite player in my mind, when I think of an elite player I think of a guy that I can have in there for any situation, not a guy I have to fit into a very specific role to keep him from getting exposed.

I agree except it's very rare to have a team stocked with elite players. So situational players and substitutions used correctly in the right system consistently yields wins.

Naive question but how do you do to have a certain player only on the field in red zone situations? Short of using overrides to put him only in, say 3-4 formations, and calling said formation only in the red zone...But it's a bit extreme....

That's precisely how you do it. Works quite well actually. Barring injury or fatigue, your player(s) will be where you want them, when you want them.

As an example, I inserted a certain running back to play only in certain formations under specific down and distance situations. He appeared in only 22 plays, yet he carried the ball 19 times for almost 200 yds. It doesn't always go so well, but worked that time.

You guys are trying to hard.

It's not about the Weights. It's not about the Current/Overall. It's not about the Rules and the Exceptions and the La-da-da's.

If you want to make sure a Player is Elite there are two simple steps.

1. Ensure you are in MFN-7.
2. Ensure you are on the Denver Roster.

Complete. Done. Once there, all that you see... all that there is... is Elite Player. Everything. All 53.

They are the Best of the Best. The Kings of Kings. The Gods of Gods.

Even 4th String TE, 14/26 Rookie C. Gillenwater, is a Boss of Bosses, a Leader of Leaders, a Titan of Titans.

Two steps.

Simple.
