Dissapointing draft for the Inmates, but let's start with the positives.
Garland Rodgers got a massive boost. The super fast TE out of Georgia looks like a receiving beast. Missing only the blocking ablities to be an elite TE. the 4th spent on Rodgers should still be well worth it.
Willie Walla, our super speedy 1st round Pick didn't bust and should be an instant impact player at multiple positions.
Sadly that's already all the positives we could report out of our offseason.
Loyd Catron & Troy Lee got slightly better during camp, but not even close to be enough to warrant a roster spot. Both were udfas and Alcatraz has next to no money invested in both of them.
Chad Brubaker looks like the only udfa with a chance to make the 53 men roster. the 3rd round Pick, that got released even before camp, got a massive 6 year contract, but failed to make a positive development during camp. to the massive surprise of GM Giko, the inmates where to only team to bid for the Guard out of North Carolina, making his contract a massive overpay.
Darren Miller, Vincent Mattox, Edward Stahlman and Phillip Bodie got the chance to make a good impression and failed miserably. All of them seem athleticly gifted enough to be absolute impace players in the NFL, but couldn't back it up with enough football skills.
Back to the draft Picks.
For 3rd round pick Erwin Phillips, the Inmates had high hopes that he could eventually take over at C, where the Roster is lacking quality. A bad camp later this hope has diminished and is now basically gone. Phillips should be good enough to make and the roster and be a backup.
In the 4th and 5th round the Inmates took a shot at two speedy Linebackers. 5th round selection Noble Pruett looks like a complete bust and will with out a doubt be out of the NFL immediately. James Mayes, who got taken 1 round earlier is getting another shot, at a different position. The MLB is going to make the transition to CB where his lack of tackling skills shouldn't damage his performance as much as it would at MLB. His coverage skills are not great, but his speed should make up for something.
Maurice Domingo got acquired from Oslo Aurora, who by the looks of it, have absolutely fleeced the Inmates. Alcatraz paid a 2nd, a 3rd and a back up linemen for Domingo and a future 4th. Even before his first season Domingo regressed like barley anyone else. Due to the investment and the bad competition at his position Domingo will propably still end up on the roster, but is light years away from the dominant DT the Inmates were hoping for, when making this trade.
Going to be a tough year for the Inmates, who had the worst draft in the division. especially because the Triangles had a good Draft, with atleast 4 impact players.
