Down 13 with 2 minutes left Flow needs a TD. FG didn't really do any good in that situation.

You have to set the rules yourself for this to happen.... Go to gameplan and rules and set the rules you want in certain situations....I agree.... I wish it just happened automatically tho....

And if you're down by 10, and it's 4th and 10 on your opponents 20, you'll go for it on 4th instead of kicking the FG to bring your team within one score.

The worst part is, you can't create a rule to kick a FG in this situation because kicking a FG is not an option in the rules.

Overall, we definitely need better gameplanning tools.

not to kick a dead horse but in the madden series and even in the ncaa football series you will have the same thing happen where the computer does something like this when they are down by certain points yet they need a td to count the deficit in half or bring them closer in points.

But also maybe the computer did take that field goal because they knew they were going for a onside kick to get the ball back .

After you watch the field goal you will see CHICAGO went for a onside kick so really proves that the computer knew it had to go for a onside kick after that field goal and hopefully recover it and score then do another onside kick and score again.

here is that onside kick you MISSED = http://cust35.myfootballnow.com/watch/993#178934

I did look at the logic code and see what needs to change, it will get addressed in a future release.

If I understand the scenario, the AI will always go for the FG on 4th and whatever unless you have a rule to the contrary. Assuming you are within range. Am I missing something?

That hasn't been my experience. I don't have any rules to go for it on 4th and long, yet I remember situations where my team was down by 10 or 11, and the AI chose to go for it instead of kicking the FG, when in either case I would have needed an onside kick and another score.

The AI will go for it on 4th down if you are in hurry up unless the distance is too great (I think the cutoff is 10 yards) or you are deep in your own territory. You control what situation your team goes in hurry up by your misc gameplan settings.

So the only way to get the AI to kick a FG when you're down by 10 or 11 is to NOT be in hurry up (which means you'd pretty much have to set it to 0)?

Also, I think the cutoff is greater than 10 yards. Pretty sure I've gone for it on 4th and 16 down by 10, when I could have kicked a 35-40 yard FG instead.

I'll try to remember to post the play if it happens again.

If the field goal will take you out of hurry up, the AI will kick the field goal on 4th down. So if you are down by 10 with 7:30 remaining and you have your hurry up set to 5 minutes per score, you'll be in hurry up because you are down by 2 scores. A field goal will change you from being down 2 scores to 1 and since there is more than 5 minutes remaining it will take you out of hurry up - and you will kick the field goal.
