Re-New Team Contracts

When anyone starts a new team and drafts 40+ players they all pretty much reach the end of their contracts at the same time and then you have to individually go through every player which if I'm honest is a bit of a laborious chore.

Would there be a way of having a tick box system with a dialogue box that that would apply all the relevant contract details to all players that you need to sign?

The other problem that I have and guess everyone else does too is that signing a vast number of players in the same season means you don't have enough cap space.

I do have the same problem

The problem with that is that each player is going to require a different contract, depending on their skill - so you don't want to offer them all the same contract, and I'm not even sure you want to offer them all exactly what they are asking for. I usually change something about the contract or at least give pause about each contract to make sure I want to make the offer.

Once you get past that second year of the league the contracts should start to expire more staggeredly.

Staggeredly.....nice new word there :)

I thought that maybe some script logic could work its magic and figure out that if you have X amount of cap space with 30+ players requiring new contracts that based on how good(y) and valuable(z) they are to the team could be worked out?

As it stands now I have a team where possibly half of them will end up leaving because I find it quite difficult to do and tremendously time consuming.

I've drafted well and the 'futures' of a lot of the players are golden and as such require more $ to sign, seems a bit crappy to get penalised in that way.

Its a shame this can't be implemented.

Well, the players won't sign for less than they are asking, otherwise they will go to FA. So you really do need to prioritize who you want to get signed more than I think a script could do for you.

Not that I won't consider it or think about building some sort of an interface to make it easier to prioritize.

Just my 2 cents ..

It is rather daunting to pick up a team that is over half full of one year contracts. When I picked up mine I recognized that and during free agency did the "signing of my own" vs free agents. Thankfully I did stagger my contracts some 2 year, some 3 year, etc. Time will tell if that was smart or not. Knowing now what I have since learned about the game I know I messed myself up on a couple of those (like I gave my starting RB a bonus this year and next of $7mill each year and he is now on IR ...).

Thankfully though I will go into free agency next year with 0 free agents.

It would be beneficial though when a team does the allocation draft to give more time on those contracts (maybe the day 1 draftees get 4 yrs .. day 2 draftees get 3 yrs, etc. But again this is coming from someone that has yet to get through an allocation draft.

Just my opinion, but that does not bode well for wanting to keep and progress a team. It would be far easier to just let it go cpu and pick up another team.
I like building a team and creating rivalries but not at the expense of losing a huge chunk of the team because they all got issued the same contract draft day.

1. You don't have to wait until a player is in the final year in order to sign them to a new deal, as long as it isn't the first year.

2. You don't have to wait until a certain point of the season to sign players to a new deal. If you have a bunch of players in their last year, you can sign some one week, more the next week, etc. It doesn't have to be a huge task that has to get done all at one time.
