Player and Pick value

Would really like to see the player and pick values improved to reflect the actual value.

There is no way that a number one for next season should be worth half the value of a first rounder that did not bust from previous seasons. What happens is that an 8 or 9 year veteran whose value has dipped to around 800-900, can easily be traded for a 1st round pick at 900. That pick should be at least twice that value. By doing that, a lot of the "bogus" trades being done by dupe accounts will no longer happen, fixing that problem. Noobs will no longer be vulnerable to terribly bad trades, because they will be protected by accurate values. The player values need to reflect the actual value of the player, not just the default values and age.

The experienced players in this game, the ones who know how to really manage their rosters for maximum value, start dumping their high rated veterans for picks when they get 6 yrs or more on them. But, more and more players who have one or more seasons experience, are finding out the same thing. So, we have a lot of players putting their good vets of 6 or more years on the trading block and writing "picks" in the message box. No one who knows what they are doing is giving away a high first round pick for a 9 or 10 year, veteran with top ratings.

Another example of the value being way off the mark is the Quarterback defaults vs their actual important attributes or weighted values. There are Qbs leading their leagues in passing that have default values in the high 60's. In general, the Qbs default values should relate much more to their overall value than they currently do. The Qbs should also be the highest paying position on the team, same as the professional football league that this game is attempting to simulate as much as possible. Ive already stated my case for making salary cap more of a simulation also, as that would go a long way to solving the problem of dupe accounts, bad trades, and hoarding/keeping an overload of top rated players w/o any concern about or difficulty with the salary cap, which is exactly what is used in pro ball to increase competition.

well this might have nothing to do with this but I do know that in development is player offers : have a floor based on their skill and position instead of relying purely on other players' salaries. It would be based on the salary cap.

so I would imagine that will go hand and hand with your idea .

On my Denver/19 team, my next season #1 pick is worth 684 on the trade meter. That is ridiculous. My number 2 picks are under 300, which is also ridiculous. My number 3 picks are 120. Yep, you guessed my reaction,..... ridiculous!

A player who just joined the league and is trying to improve a 3-13 team is stuck with two TE's, very highly rated, that are both worth over 2300 on the trade meter. He is never going to be able to trade them, its almost like a cruel joke that the previous owner left behind.

Do you want players to try and improve badly losing teams and give them a fair chance, or do you want people abandoning teams and giving up on them?

My 1.1 pick this season is only worth 1000 on the trade meter, and we're still in preseason! The values are way out of balance.

I've noticed that my draft picks in different leagues are valued differently on the trade meter. I think it correlates to where you should be picking in the draft order. So if I'm projected to be a Superbowl contender my pick values would be lower than a league bottom feeder.

Right, so what would your reaction be as a "bottom feeder", Im talking 0-16 prev season, with your 1st round pick worth less than 700 on the trade meter? That is Denver/19

A tanking bottom feeder wouldn't project to be a bottom feeder though

Its no wonder why top teams stay that way being able to trade 9 yr vets worth over 1000 on the trade meter for 1st and 2nd round picks worth less than 1000.

Take a look at the trade blocks, they are loaded with them.

As long as this imbalance continues, trades will reflect this, hi rated older vets will be placed on the block with the message reading "picks, picks, picks". Trading players btw teams for mutual benefit will be few and far between. Ive gotten messages so far saying just that, "I dont want players, I want picks!"

Well the hard part about this game when trading players is the fact that everyone rates players differently. We don't get to see the "universal" rating of a player. So just cause I rate a player as a 90/90 doesn't mean you would. So trading players for picks is easier cause it's a more direct correlation of value

?? dont get the point here, the subject being addressed is low value for top picks vs player values, whether or not you are a league champ or finish last. In the case of Denver, they were both "tanked" and finished last. They had the 1.1 pick in the draft, and that player, the top rated CB and draft choice, is now worth 1000 on the trade meter, to add insult to injury. The trade meter values for both picks and good players on the team is hurting the ability to trade and improve. As opposed to a league leader, with 50% high rated players or more on their roster, who pick up 1st and 2nd picks in trades for half or less what their true value is.

This situation is such an easy fix, and will help eliminate some of the abuse in trades which has been discussed thoroughly in the com forum and is a high priority issue with admin. Raise the pick values up where they should be, including consideration for busts. And dont overvalue players like a TE with 90+ default value at 2400 on the meter. Trades should be a good balance between players and picks. The way it is now, its all about getting the picks.

Everyone may rate players differently, but there are those who dominate every league they are in, so they must be evaluating the players the best, right? And you are right, trading players for picks is easier, but the problem is that the pick values are way too low. Pick any one of your teams and you tell me what the average current value of your first round picks are over the last 1-4 seasons since you picked them. I would be willing to bet that that average value isnt under 1500. You could say, "well, those that pick the players better should have that advantage". And I would agree, but you dont have to make it that much easier for them to do so. By acquiring high picks for old vets for less than half the true value of that pick.
