Liverpool!

I know there are plenty of Brits in MFN, so I will go ahead and post this.

Three years ago, my soccer fan son said to me, "Dad, you really need to pick a soccer team to follow." I had no idea where to start, so I told him my criteria:
* Long history of at least some degree of success
* Super loyal fan base
* Midsize-to-small market, blue-collar city
* Winning through smart decisions, not by outspending everyone else

He recommended Liverpool, and it has been enjoyable to watch such an amazingly talented team that, last night, became Premier League champions. Yay for the good people of Liverpool, who waited 30 years to my three.

Congratulations.

I've always enjoyed the derbies and have grown to have real affection for Liverpool. If United can't win, I'm rooting for Liverpool.

I hate, that we didn't give Klopp what he wanted and then he went to Liverpool.

This is just wrong, the two fan bases hate each other - it's the fiercest rivalry in the League by some distance.

That's your opinion. Rather Liverpool than City or any of those London scummies.

A lot of the pubs I frequent are Liverpool places and several of my friends support them. I'm sorry I'm not a stereotypical idiot with this.

Liverpool have plenty of scummy fans.

Real scouse fans aren't exactly happy about people with zero connection to Liverpool following them.

And?

You support your local side... plenty of football teams in US.

Genuine scousers despise foreign fans...

What are you basing this on? There will always be a small percentage of clowns with prejudice but many more are welcoming and have no issue with race, gender, religion and sexual orientation.

Tourist fans have driven the ticket prices up.

Football was always a community sport, teams embedded in the community. As seen by the stunt Liverpool and Man Utd fan, real fans don't matter only the money.
