Pick his position?

Something I find frustrating about this game is that if you are drafting high, and the player drafted is higher-ranked at another position, (by my weightings)...am I to assume he has no positional experience at the position he would most excel at?

Player in Question is listed as a CB = https://nfl-league.myfootballnow.com/player/3884

My weightings have him as follows;

FS 28/83
SS 30/82
CB 29/78

Default ratings, which put him as CB in the draft, has him as 33/81. His Vol is 20. Where would you put him in the secondary, and I suppose...if a change of position is needed, when should that be made ? Before or after training camp? My own thoughts is that I have a decent CB squad as is, but I suppose I'm confused as to "if I want to change his position" when should I do it?

Meh, position experience means very little to me. Rookies typically max out at their position by the 3rd or 4th game of the regular season. Unless it's a kicker or punter.

Well, no way was I taking another Top 10 pick with high Vol...good situation to have.

I'm guessing you meant "Meh" as, thats not an easy decision ?

Personally I'd play him at FS, but I typically have my FS as the only one that plays zone coverage.

No expert here but I'm pretty sure before training camp. This is the phase were they will gain/lose weight for the new position accordingly which should affect things like strength and speed, also they will gain the most experience for the new position in this phase.

On a side note, in general a CB is a higher value position than a safety. Safety's can be a bit slower in general and lack a little in M2M as they play more zone than CB's. You can play a less talented DB at safety in short. Just my 2 cents

I like him better as a safety. Personally, I have been using more zone plays, so that is why I say this.

If I had Kim on my team, he would be at SS. I do like the SS position to have high strength. Even if he can't tackle, his strength may slow a receiver down until someone else can make the tackle.

interesting decision with the 7th overall pick, going for the lower ceiling but higher floor player.

Not really. Other needs were 80+ vol for that level in the draft...I've been there before and got stung handsomely. Decided low vol...+ a need + attributes.

He's 207# and the CB average weight is 191#. That's a 3 SP difference. So if you're going to play him in coverage, typically CB or FS, then play him at CB. If you want him as a thumper and Cover 1 player [remember that SS and FS are switched on many plays], then play him at SS.

Yes, I'm aware of the weight chart (have it saved in an excel spreadsheet). The bones of my question was is that if I was to change his position, when would be the correct time to do so.....also, can he not be a #4 CB and starting SS if I have depth at both ? Is there a penalty for playing players "slightly" out of position ?
