JDB has agreed to create a new private league on the beta engine. This league will function just like MFN-1 where all new code changes will be immediately reflected in the league.

Reasons why you should consider joining this league:

1) Play the new code as soon as it is released in a competitive league. MFN-1 is a notoriously difficult league to get into. It has also become known as the “test league” where players test builds as well as play the new code. A second league on the beta engine will allow twice as many players to play the new code and maintain competition levels across the league.

2) Help the game improve faster. More players playing the beta engine provides more data for JDB to analyze. There is a huge difference between what you can learn from a test bench, and what you can learn by setting code loose in the wild. Let's expand that wild.

3) Feel more informed about the direction of the game. I have learned a lot from playing MFN-1, and I enjoy playing new code much more than current released code because I can see marked differences between the two engines.

Who should consider joining? Obviously, anyone that is serious about playing MFN and serious about improving the code. The league would be ideally full of owners that would:

1) discuss the game play as much as they discuss their teams

2) swap ideas for new builds or new tweaks

3) have a good time pushing one another to win every game (I assume that is given)

So if you want to compete against other good owners on the latest code and maybe learn some tricks along the way, let's get this started.

UPDATE: League is now build and can be found here: https://beta87.myfootballnow.com (I see no reason to keep this a secret.)

Just as a suggestion, but I'd consider potentially delaying the league's inception somewhat to stagger its regular season a little in comparison to MFN1 (currently both are scheduled to hit their respective off-seasons days apart). That way there's no "dead time" in testing, where a gameplay change has to wait a full off-season for evaluation.

Alternatively, it could be useful to make this a 'double time' league (if such a thing were even possible), with the mid-game spins happening at mid-day, so that you could accrue gameplay data significantly faster.

Just some thoughts.

I noticed that the allocation draft in the new league seemed to be sooner than normal allocation drafts. Although, if the league fills quickly, the solution may be pushing the draft up instead of back.

Or you could go with an automatically generated draft, rather than an allocation?

Hey, hey, hey, relax Ares, I like allocation drafts...

Update on this. We're about half-full now. Grab a team if you're interested in playing the code as it comes out. (League link in the OP.)
