As I’ve gone around to recruit for my 3rd league I’m not sure if there even are 300 active users. It’s getting even harder recruiting for new leagues with how many people have been quitting. The game still has tons of room for growth but the bleeding has to stop soon. The owner of MFN doesn’t seem entirely interested in doing much at this point though, unfortunately.

I really enjoy this game, stil undecided whether I liked 4.5 or 4.6 better both have faults. A couple thoughts I have

1) I have a love/hate thing going with all the team management/contracts as well as the gameplanning which I enjoy all takes time and when my time is limited something suffers. Often it is all I can do to spare enough time to marginally manage my teams. Because of the sheer time involved to manage players and contracts, FA lottery/signings I have had to scale back on leagues. Sometimes it just takes too much time and game after game I haven't changed a thing except for keeping the healthiest players active. In other words I am not giving it my best

2) As far as JDB fixing things and spending time to improve this game I have often thought of like this. MyFootball Now likely doesn't pay the bills, the man like most of us has a job a family and has to make a living. I have played this game for a few years now and tbh I haven't spent all that much money. Think about how much actual $$ you have spent vs the # of months you have had enjoyment for in the game......pretty small $/month I am guessing. IF there was a way for JDB to be incentivized to make changes and be involved there is a high likelihood it would be monetary compensation. If he has a full time career then it makes sense that time spend programming here will take away from him family time. Looking at all the active users multiplied by the amount of us spending money to setup leagues and rename players probably doesn't offer enough incentive for that. If there was a monthly fee to play or a different fee structure that I am sure many wouldn't like, it may be enough to have JDB spend a bit more time at it.
I for one would be happy to pay more to play this game and have some of the suggestions implemented.

I do agree with many of the suggestions that might take us to place where vastly differing gameplans would work.

...
I created a custom league in December 2018.
I've delayed the sim ever since.
Initially and ironically - because of league oversaturation and just every noob created a new league for a bit.
The last couple-ish years though, it has been becuase the MFN player pool continues to decrease.
And y'all keep on creating leagues because running 4+ is not enough satisfaction.

Not bashing, please don't take the probable offense created by that last statement.
in 2022, the player pool has gravitated towards the cosistent and long term admins. Admins with experience. I used to run 2 leagues, 1 closed from lack of players. Lots of admins can say basically the same thing - I used to run more leagues than I do today.
Just the facts lol (cue stranger things theme).

(EDIT: I must add the one I have the pleasure of continuing to administrate, is healthier and livlier than it has been in years past. I owe it to the GMs, no doubt!)

What we do have is a hard-core group of players dedicated to helping any new person that asks, and frustrated by a lack of communication and let's be honest:
An improvement to the excitement factor.

I think that's a pretty good summation of where we are and a large enough bucket to toss all of our game mechanics issues into. Pardon me for breaking my arm with the self-ego-flagellation :P

From a "marketing of the new player base" point, continuing to rehash the things we don't like, certainly decreases new player retention.

We have had some improvements in just the last few months - such as the ability for administrators to reset dead cap insteaad of having ownership be the middleman.

The old farts like me that aint left yet, are likely to continue for a bit longer. I'm not the only one who takes unique, high quality games with low profits and plays them until they die.
I know some of you too well LMAO!

See ya on the other side of darkness, mis compadres!

I came back to see if anything had changed with the game and read this post.

I see, as always, a bunch of people talking about things beyond their control. There is nothing you can do about the programming of the game. It sucks and people quit.

The one thing I never see anyone talking about are things you can control, like how you treat others in the game. You can say whatever you want about Villager, I was just an owner in this game for almost a year before I tried to run a league and take over 2 leagues that someone didn't want anymore. How many people have you guys run out of here? How many people were enjoying themselves until they were insulted over and over by some players? How many of you guys DM'd ever player in an admin's league with lies to get them to leave that league, I know of one for sure. How many owners were threatened with actual violence by you guys, I know of one for sure.

So keep the train going guys, keep those clowns in your leagues that create a negative and hostile environment, keep hanging off the jockstrap of those insufferable league admins and lie endlessly about others to sabotage their leagues, keep running people out of the game because, well that's what a lot of you do. Keep blaming the game, the developer and everything else but yourselves. A lot of you are 100% responsible for countless players quitting that had nothing to do with the game itself.

Enjoy the ashes.

Who are the clowns? I personally have never insulted anyone and enjoy this game. I’ve tried other football sims and this one is still the best even with its flaws. But it’s the same flaws everyone has to deal with.

Thank goodness I'm not the person Villager is referring to so I don't have to go on the defensive HAHAHA :)

In fact, I am the guy who is talking about the treatment ofplayers, of accepting the game as it is, who is constantly pointing out the good things, and complimenting my peers in MFN.

I do this, and will continue to make the effort to be positive/supportive, becuase Villager is right.
EDIT: Even if Villiger is participating in the negatives by coming back after a lengthy vacation and bashing players instead of being objective and posing ideas, they are still right. They are incredibly passive aggressive, but yeah.

Heck, I even effort using the right gender nuetral pronouns.

It ain't easy being cheesy, but it's better than bein' resentful. ;)

if one does not have a solution, all they are doing is complaining.

wish in one hand and spit in the other - see which one gives you results.

always brings a tear to my eye seeing people get bullied online. we need to do something about this as a community so everyone feels accepted. 1-800-273-8255
