Was that the Ricky Williams draft? I heard Ditka's offer was turned down by the Bengals when he offered all his picks to draft Ricky.

It was the same draft. If that's true, it makes it even doubly bad - and it sounds likely, why wouldn't Ditka have offered it at the 3 spot if he offered it at the 5 spot?

how have we got this far into Bengal draft busts talk without mentioning Akili Smith yet??

Because the Akili Smith era was so bad, anyone liking the Bengals buried it in the deep recesses of our minds, hoping to never be reminded of it again. Thanks. Thanks a lot, haha.

Don't forget Jack Thompson, just as high pick as Smith. As a real life Bears fan, I should not say this about quarterbacks. But since now we got Justin Fields, we finally get a change of luck. Did I mention that draft also produced the QB who beat the Bengals twice in their two super bowls?

Not all QB's but Seattle's worst off the top of my head

Rick Mirer? Brian Bosworth? Malik McDowell (he was a 2nd rounder and coincidently has just turned up in Cleveland)

They are probably the worst three I can remember for Seattle. Although Rashaad Penny is doing his best to get on that list now.

Thompson was before my time (had to look him up) but they ended up trading him to the bucs for a 1st , which ended up being traded for two firsts..... Pete Koch and Brian blados. The pats picked five time probowler irving fryar. So really the bengals busted on three picks!

Back in my early days I drafted a 100 VOL QB 5th or 6th overall, because he was clearly BPA and I needed a QB. He stayed put on that Vol, a 98-rated QB who was a longtime franchise stud.

Tried the same thing shortly after, and that QB went -27!! Instant cut, regardless of salary.

Ryan Leaf or Peyton Manning? That was the big debate going into the 1998 draft with many Draft experts liking Leaf.

Everyone knows how those picks played out.

Yes.....a goat named Brady also was an unexpected boom. The Bengals didn't get better until Marvin Lewis brought in Jeff Blake. Now that QB was awesome. One of the best high arc long ball throwers ever.

If Mo Lewis doesn’t knock out drew Bledsoe it is entirely possible the league never finds out who Brady is…
