Something similar to the OOTP baseball system would be perfect.

The only problem with that is that the majority of owners in one stuck league could be in another stuck league that would be merging with the first one

I might be a bit off topic, but it gets old when players make runs at titles, then dump the team to the computer or a new user with 50 million dollars in dead cap space for multiple seasons. It's happened in both my leagues by players that have been playing longer than I have. I find it against the spirit of the game, and a reason why a few teams will be computer teams for multiple seasons.
