By just basing it on speed & acceleration?

It was a different game back then. Backs were not yet penalized for overuse.

As a converted QB his generic retirement age is a bit later than a true running back.

Still, James Young in his prime was almost 100's in every important running skills. Speed , acceleration , ball carry, and break tackle. The OP back was very good in those categories also.

If you just run and do not care about fumbles than yes just those four. For my weights running backs are 80 to 100 for speed and acceleration and like zero to 25 for all others ratings.

Not that they are unimportant , but low speed and acceleration will is guaranteed to get low yards per carry. No matter the other ratings.

Idea from a newbie...

What about a "Clutch" rating?
Let it give a boost in clutch time, say final 5 minutes of each half if the score difference is 14 points or less.

Maybe 100 rating gives a .0025% across all categories skill boost, so max of 25% gain or even another computation based off a 50 rating where it can go up or down .005% so there's an attribute penalty.

Maybe even double the value for Kickers & Punters.

Don't know if it's been though of or suggested yet or not, so I thought I would share.

Speed from 100 to 99 is a big drop off. IMO acceleration would be at the bottom of the important weights. As long as it's not below 40 it won't effect much. Ball carry is almost as important as speed. More or less that's there agility, patience and high acceleration will help the cut backs as well.

Break tackle and strength can fall into the same category. High break tackle with 15 strength your running back will get pumbled. And trust me try not to rely on a running back with lower then 50 fumble. I just fumbled 36 times last season in LG 75. Started shipping my backs off to in conf teams so it might help me later on. But you can have success with 85 speed running backs if the other categories are high.

THE biggest factor in yards per carry comes down to your OL and your opponents play calling .

Remember this is all opinion and I don't know anymore then anyone else I do know what I've seen and I've seen every type of back . You gotta make your gameplan unpredictable so they don't call safety and 2LB blitz and stuff your run no matter what the ratings are.

With the thread turning toward RB ratings here and my being a relatively new owner....... how does height and weight effect RB performance? Has anyone had any significant experience with converting TEs to RBs (not FB) with success? This player: https://mfn74.myfootballnow.com/player/29
is doing allright for me as he progresses deep into season 2. In the Mike Alstott/Peyton Hills mold he is a great pass catcher and has all the traits you would look for in a ball carrier + he is a BIG man. I also have a fabulous OLine in this league https://mfn74.myfootballnow.com/depth_chart . Would you expect to see success with this guy long term?
Curious thoughts as I try to get a deeper understanding of MFN?

I've seen it and you end up getting a couple average years with no breakaways over 40 yards, then I guess when they lose the weight it's just like normal. By the time they do that there shelf life is over half expired. Ive never been into position changing with huge weight differences. Some owners have a lot of success with it. But the more a player weighs the slower he is. 250 pound TE with 100 speed is really around 70 speed

Hadnt even thought about the weight loss. I had saved a screen cap in the preseason season one and sure enough.....dudes lost 40 pounds in just under 2 years. Figured speed was somewhat relative with weight factored. Your feedback helped. thanks!

It seems pointless unless we know why they are unhappy.
