Signing free agents, especially to max contracts, gets really weird. It will flash a popup saying that the first year salary cannot go over a certain amount even if the the amount shown on the popup is the exact dollar amount as the offer. It looks like a >= was probably used where a > was wanted.

I wish that we could just go with one interface, having to constantly keep switching between the 2 is frustrating and annoying.
I tried sending an offer on the old one as well and it just doesn't work. I now have 2 teams that are totally screwed up.
If coaches don't 'matter' then why is this salary fiasco happening? I can't remember the last time a season ended and I didn't wake up to the message "You do not have a full coaching staff".
There seem to be a lot more pressing needs than messing around with this aspect of the game.

Yeah, I'm not gonna blow up coaching staffs on 15 or 20 teams and try to figure out all that graduated salary ****. And if coaches salaries aren't included in team salary cap where can I find the coaches salary cap? The progress bar at the top doesn't give you a base amount to spend on coaches.
If coaches don't affect teams performance that much why even have them at all? Just more or less a time waster....
And I agree on the 1 interface or the other, its starting to be a pain.
I'm gonna have to drastically cut down on teams until I get a better understanding about how things are gonna work with this new stuff.

I think I'll probably drop the old interface off not this weekend but next. I think the issues with the new interface are getting overshadowed by issues caused by having both interfaces active. There are still a few issues with the new interface but they are pretty minimal. BTW, I did give you a way to permanently disable the 'hide spoilers' feature under the 'account' menu.

I am probably going to give you a one-click fix to solve your coaching salary problems - essentially normalizing your coaching salaries so that if you are upside down it will just restructure your coaches' contracts so you are no longer upside down. Once you are no longer upside down you should be able to hire coaches like normal just with the added restriction.

In a future update coaches will boost their players performance on the field, right now they do impact your players' progress speed but after observing it for the life of the game I know that's really not enough to justify their existence.

Is the coach salary budget going to be enforced as part of this change? I believe in the past you could spend as much as you wanted on coaches regardless of the interface said budget-wise.

You can't currently overspend on coaches except in some unique situations but that was a bug that is being patched. The updates will indeed keep the budget strict and the AI will begin to adjust your coaches if you are over budget, but I am hoping that there are going to enough constraints to prevent you from easily overspending. On the flip side, I will also be normalizing the coach budgets across all the teams so it will no longer be dependent on attendance, giving a more level playing field.

Yep, that would pretty much take care of all that problem... thanks boss!

Sorry, but this whole coach magic wand thing doesn't work, all it want to do is offer 2 unemployed dudes the job of HC and OC going from an 80's+ rating to 60s.

Would some kind of amnesty be a better option here? It really isn't fair if you have to completely reconstruct your coaching staff, especially if you've spent the last few seasons getting into a position to challenge for the title.

There HAS to be a better way than this?

I can't even offer the minimum contract....

I'm going to get this in every team I own, I just don't have the time or interest to do this anymore.

I've had a few reports of that but haven't tracked it down until now - I was able to study your team's situation and identify why this was happening. I have deployed a fix, you should be able to sign the position coach now.
