Awful End of Game Playcalling

The way this game in MFN 15 ended was awful.

I would be very interested to know if what happened on this last play was due to something AZ had setup, or just another example of the poor AI decision making.

Yea, especially from inside the 25 yd line, but he should have had it covered in his game-planning.

Can't depend on the AI, it becomes a special situation.

How would you cover this in gameplanning?

I don't think you have the option of deciding when to kick a FG.

If you do, I would LOVE to know how. If not, you're going to be screwed by the AI if that's what happened here.

Can you not create a scenario such as:

Rules Section?

4Q Very little time left
own40 to opp 20
2ndD
3rdD
4thD
3yds to .5yd
(Pick Your Play)
Score Diff. +3 to -3

Not exactly, but you get the picture eh?

That would work, if you could actually pick a play, but you can't.

That was awful, you should have kicked a field goal there _unless_ there was a rule to override it. I'll definitely investigate that one.

Well you can't 'pick a play' per Se' but you can 'weight adjust' for Inside Run, Outside Run, Short Pass, Med Pass or Long Pass.

I just looked at the data, this is a combination of a gameplan setting and a possible bug. His end-of-game field goal was set so that this was outside of the range, so that is why the FG was not attempted. His regular field goal range is actually set to be longer than his end-of-game field goal range, and would have fired, and was used to decide that he's trying to milk the clock. So I will fix this by using the regular field goal range if the end-of-game is shorter. If his regular field goal range had matched his end-of-game then he would have attempted to pass the ball.

Right, but you can't create a rule saying that you want to kick a FG.
