Unlimited Cap Bug

https://mfn26.myfootballnow.com/team/22

I have seen this several times before. I am curious and perplexed.

This team (apparently being run by name 'Holldorf' before he suddenly quit) was able to sign contracts for any amount in free agency, getting ALL the top picks
and running this team's cap almost 60M over the limit, apparently without restriction.

As far as i can tell, the cap means nothing.

I think it is supposed to cut the players with the highest save if release, but nobody was ever released. The team was just given enough money to draft all his players. This has come up several times, and if I am seeing this right it is a huge bug.

I think it waits until training camp to start enforcement of the salary cap.

Wrong, bad, awful.

What that would mean is that any clown can drop into any league, gobble up all the free agents by bidding what he can't afford, and ruin free agency entirely.

Even if the game then forced the release of those players, five days of people's time is entirely wasted.

Regardless of what the algorithm does, it is a horrendous bug that needs to be fixed - yesterday.

I didn't say if it was good or bad, I was merely mentioning how I think it currently works.

Upon further inspection, i suspect that what the intention of this GM was was to trade all of the excess 90 + defensive linemen he picked up in free agency for all of the other players that he needed to fill all the holes in his roster thereby pushing much of the bonus cap money Into The Following season, because the majority of the free agent pickups were defensive linemen - far more than he can actually use.

I have to admit this seems like a very clever stratagem to turn a 1 - 15 team into a 15-1 team in one season. But it really sucks for other people trying to play this game in a realistic fashion.

Obviously the fix for this is for the cap to be considered at every transaction - as it should be - rather than postponed until much later (training camp?) if that's when it's actually applied.
