Re: There is a problem with Waiver Claims

This is the Second time this has happened to me in consecutive attempts of trying to claim a player off Waivers........

A team releases a player, I put in a Waiver Claim and the team that released the player signs the player anyway!!

The first time it happened the team "supposedly" had a worse record than I did the preceeding season. I accepted that as a viable answer because we were not 8 games into the current season.

This time it happened at the end of the season and it is clear that my team has a worse record than the signing team.

What exactly is the criteria for signing players off waivers, if it is not "worst team gets first dibs"?

The first occurrance was regarding https://cust62.myfootballnow.com/player/5471.

The most recent occurrence was regarding https://agent86.myfootballnow.com/player/2389.

I'll have to investigate it, you should have been higher in the list and it doesn't look like there were any other waiver claims processed by you. It should be using the current season so it sounds like there may be a bug.

Odd that he cut him and then re-signed him from the waivers, not sure what the point of that would be.

Not sure this what he did but could he have found a workaround to someone who has only 1 year on his contract because i have noticed sometimes i will get a player from the waiver and i have noticed that player only has 1 year contract yet i cant give him a contract so maybe he found a workaround where if you cant sign that player that you have to cut him then you will be able to sign him to a contract???

btw i hope that isnt what happened because that would be kinda of cheap to do

Claiming off of waivers only assumes what was remaining on the contract, so the only thing that happens if you succeed in cutting a player and then claiming him off of waivers is that any bonus beyond the next year gets accelerated to the next year (as dead cap). So I'm not sure I see what kind of competitive advantage there would be. But maybe he thought he was getting around some sort of contract logic.

I just want to know how that AFTER an owner cuts a player, that owner is able to resign the same player he cut when I tried to do the same thing and get the message
Unwilling to sign.
Due to this player's history with you, he is unwilling to sign a contract with your team.

And don't even bring up the "Opinion" detail. I had this same message appear when I had a 3 year starter who I cut in week 4 and was "Very Happy" with me at the time of the decision, refuse to sign again as a FA with me in week 9 of the season.

Waiver claims are different, because you're not offering a new contract, each team has the opportunity to take over the existing contract. So a cut player has no choice about what team claims him off of waivers, but after he clears waivers he's a free agent and can sign with whatever team he wants.
