In mfn-7 Pitts. against Tampa my Steelers used 2 time outs back to back in the 3rd quarter. Any logical reason for this?

here is those 2 timeouts though I will have to post the play before

1 = https://mfn7.myfootballnow.com/gamecenter/view/3063#618853
2 = https://mfn7.myfootballnow.com/gamecenter/view/3063#618855

game log = https://mfn7.myfootballnow.com/log/3063
box score = https://mfn7.myfootballnow.com/box/view/3063

Tampa Bay won 22 - 16 over Pittsburgh so if Pittsburgh still had one of those timeouts on one of there last 2 possessions they could have won the game instead of losing it.

Those were "throw away" timeouts which simulate some sort of confusion. Imagine your head coach being pretty steamed about those.

So those are in the game. I was wondering. Is there any factor that affects whether these kinds of time outs occur?

If not, then I would propose taking them out of the game. There are already so many dice rolls in this game, having things that are 100% luck don't really add anything, IMO. I mean, except the coin toss, of course, which is intended to be 100% luck.

Another time outs called at the end of my game against Cleveland in MNF-11. I'm up 20-18 with about a minute 20 secs. Clev. has 1 TO left and my team uses 2 TO's so Clev. can save theirs??? I end up losing 21-20.

If CLE was in FG range the AI will call TOs for you with the hope that CLE can't run the clock all the way down, kick the winning FG, then leave you with no time left to come back.

Of course if CLE gets a first down you're screwed.

I don't agree. 1st and 10 at my 36 they are looking at a 53-54 yard fg. Clock is running because they completed a pass the previous play when there was a 1:25 on the clock. We call a timeout now there is 1:17. We stop them for a short loss running play at the 37, now they are looking at a 54-55 yard fg. we call another timeout to stop the clock? They only had 1 timeout left, the logic doesn't add up for me. I could see if they were looking at a 45 yard or less fg., but they were staring at a 50+. Make them use their last TO. or risk running out of time.

I wasn't suggesting it was the smart thing to do.

I agree with you that it was poor decision making, but remember it is the AI making the decision, which most of the time seems to be something other than what a human would do (at least me).

We don't have any control over timeouts yet.

Yeah, Al needs to sharpen his game time management!
