End Game Logic

Your team is down 3 points with one time out left. There's 43 seconds left in the game, it's first down and you have the ball on your opponents 34 yard line(within field goal range).

You try a pass play.... only two seconds go by and your QB gets sacked for -9 yards. You are now on the 43 yard line(60 yard field goal), with one time out still, 2nd and 19.

Why not call a time out and try another pass play to try and get closer for the field goal? Or at least try a "hurry up" play or two before calling the time out.... a 60 yard attempt isn't a high percentage try. For some reason the in-game logic decided that I should let the clock run down to 2 seconds left in the game, use my time out, and try a long field goal. We missed the 60 yarder and lost the game on 2nd down. If my team was going to run the clock out and try a field goal, they shouldn't of passed the ball on 1st down.

I think this type of logic could use some tweaking to account for the distance of the field goal attempt. If your offense has the ability to keep driving (the time and downs) they should keep driving until they get into "close range" for the field goal try.

Rules will solve most of this.

You probably should tell him what rules he needs to use and what number in those rules he needs them at to make it solve his problem.

just my 2 cents.

Jesus...really...can no one figure out simple game logic?

Down - First
Distance - Medium
Location - 50 - Opp 25, Opp 25 - Goal
Quarter - Fourth
Time: 00:45 to 00:00
Score: Down 3 to Tied
Play Type - Whatever you want to do in the situation. Short pass or inside run would be best.

The only thing that you can't do is make sure that you're calling a TO after your first play. You also can't specifically designate when to kick a FG on an early down.

Then you can create a second rule for second down if you end up with a second and long, etc.

4-19-CHI 33 (1:39) 13-Harold Stafford punts 34 yards to CHI -1.4-19-CHI 33 (1:39) 13-Harold Stafford punts 34 yards to CHI -1. Touchback.

at 19-22, 3 points from overtime! My max field goal (end of half) is at 55 yards. Of course, it's the team that I never could beat. Unbearable.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try and make up some new rules to fit the situation. Although I wish time-outs could be incorporated into rules.

TO and FG on early downs
