Multiple "weight templates" per position

The Player Weights system is a great feature, IMO. This is an idea that I think would make it even better: Allow owners to designate more than one "type" or "template" for each position.

For example, currently all RBs on a roster have Current and Potential based on the same weights the owner set for RBs. But since there are different ways to use RBs (main back, receiving back, short yardage back, etc...) the single set of weights doesn't allow the owner to easily see how good each back is in the role they actually use them for.

In my idea, owners would be able to
  1. Set the main RBs weights
  2. Add (and name?) one or more additional set of weights for RBs
  3. Select the template used for any RB (on your roster or otherwise) from the list of RB templates

Another place this could be implemented is by adding any custom templates defined in step 2 to the position drop down in the Player Search.

I imagine this could be useful for just about any position (wildcat QB, blocking TE, slot WR, DT vs NT, coverage linebacker, slot corner, etc...).

I don't see the use for this without greater granularity in choosing what players play on what plays. So being able to designate a specific third down back, a power running first down / goal line back, etc. Right now, we have the ability to override players in a personnel package, but unless we restrict personnel packages by rules or other interventions (which is time intensive and not usually worth it), there isn't a good way to set the player in the right play.

I have to disagree with you. Using rules and overrides to get specific players onto the field is worth it if you can spare the time. One just needs to be mindful that fatigue and injuries might override your overrides from time to time.

OK - I can agree with that. I probably should have left that parenthetical off at "time intensive."
