Some FB weights and why...
Max Speed at 42 is 3 times more important than any other rating here Speed gets you into position to break tackles, run block, and get seperation to effectively use the pass recieving ratings.
Acceleration at 14 is pretty high because of the positioning thing, but is only really effective within the first 2.5 yards of the player moving. I actually use low acceleration guys as FBs cause they take a second to get going...just give them some time to get in to that open space.
Strength at 11 is safe...one can go higher but here its 4 times less valuable than speed. I love a guys to push a guy a yard or two , but i rather him get to the position to make a block and hold him for a second or two.
Intelligence at 1 cause i want to at least show up in my weights. Again a low value but the fb is the 5th offensive option in our offense....super valuable vs top defenses but overall he is a blocker not a "weapon".
Discipline at 1 cause of the snap counts and like intelligenc i want to at least show up when searching for them.
Pass Catching is at 1 like the previous kinda low but never would i have it anything higher than 10...a 1 to 4 ratio to speed. If the guy in position to catch the rarely thrown ball and is open does he really need catching..
B&R Avoidance at 1 cause they will get pressed by cover guys and i do want to see it in the weights.
Route-Running is 4 cause when he does go out i want him to get through his route quickly. FBs are gold in bigger games. In tough leagues it hard to have 5 elite cover guys on the feild at once. V4.5 comes with some lax in coverage to the flats the defenders ...I want the QB to target him quicker in those senerios.
Pass Rec Courage at 5 cause the QB gonna force some bad passes his way so i want him to be able to fight for the contested ball.
Break Tackle is at 2 cause i do like some runs out of the FB positions and him getting past that one defender could turn into a big gain.
Ball Carrying is at 2 but probably the most underated intangibles in this build. I have seen 100 rated guys here with lower speeds (70s) do some strange things against "faster" defenders. But FB for this scheme is primarily a blocking role.
Avoid Fumble is at 2 for similar reasons but its about touches. I had "power backs" who can do it all getting 20 touches a game and maybe 10 pass/ run blocks. They sometimes play listed as a RB , but on other teams the "true" FB will be getting 10 touches a game and closer to 20 runblocks playing at 243 or sometimes even 257 pounds.
Run Blocking at 14 cause this is a build for what i think is a prototype FB used for blocking, quick hitting runs, and as a release valve.
Pass blocking at 4 puts it on par with route and courage. I like these guys to have some pass blocking. More than TE but less than RBS, but its all how you scheme them. Still, 10 times lower than speed
Weight vs. weight matchups really matter here .. a 198 pound FB will be great in the pass game but get destroyed facing big senerios while blocking. Same for blocking, but there the heaviest guy they might face is a LBer.
When Blocking they almost seem to have a preference of who to block. It is not always the next guy they see....its a LBer or DB. If they happen to get into it with a DE or DT those 60 pounds difference overides any skill ratings and most athletic ones.
I try to total 100 for all the weights for all the positions.....in order to keep the draft screen in check....just in case the AI has to do any drafting. I get a nice balance across all postions filtering out slower players with elite skill ratings who just under perform compared to a fast guy.
