1st Pick in the Draft

By Lostpike

I have a team with the first pick in the draft. I figured I would get a group consensus here on who you would draft.

My current thoughts are between these four in no particular order:

https://ufa.myfootballnow.com/player/4392
WR.

https://ufa.myfootballnow.com/player/4223
WR.

https://ufa.myfootballnow.com/player/4357
Note this guy is higher rated at Guard then Center.

Scary how high this guy is rated. He is even rated 98 at RG. However, he has 100 volatility.

Not sure if you've established weights etc (did not snoop ya to see how long youve played).
But weights matter, here are the last baselines for 4.5 (current ver).

Also, in the early rds, go for low volatility. High vols are more likely to mega-boom or bust. If you can get a very high rated player, with low vol, in a key pos of need, the odds are ever in your favor. In the current enviro, DBs, RBs, and LBs are good grabs. TEs are very needed, but the catch rating is very useless atm, imho. 100 guys catch 40-55%. 40 guys catching 60-75%. Tricky spot with WRs as well.
I will often add a "1" in weights when doing my FA/Draft homework to small things like Discipline or strip, little things. I do remove that 1 though before putting in the rating, as even a 1 can have an effect high or low (everything in MFN is parabolic now and no longer percentiles). EDIT: One does want to know if a LB or DE has a decentstrip ability, one does not want a 100 or a 0 in strip throwing off that players "true" rating by your weights. I just wanted it to show temporarily on the player card when I was putting together my weights by rating by volatility board.
Hope this helps, hope I'm didn't go TMI lol. HAVE PENCIL AND PAPER. :)
Good luck!

Footnote: On the player card, the only attributes shown are the ones that have value in the player weights. So, you see a QB showing say, B/RA you need to go to weights and change B/RA to "0".
an example of my board is a little like this:
Name (V) (rate) CATCH SPD TAC DISC STR ACCERL BR/C ETC and I just make a chart. When the war room opens, the day b4 the draft I prioritize my board, and MAKE SURE to check the do not draft box on player cards of say, that RB with gr8 everything and a 65 SPD showing as an 33/78 on the board. That dude will be a disaster no matter how much he booms.
Lotta folks cannot attend the draft, and do not or forget to check that box. The nextxt day they are the ones whining why did the AI draft this **** player?? ...because you did not prevent it from doing so! Use that non spin day :)
EDIT: RE: do not draft box: I really wish this was on the player card when he draft class is released, so I could do it then while doing my homework, vs waiting until the war room opens, and having to crawl through my notes and find players and do it then.
4.6 wishlist

edit2: That chart also let's me know, say, there are really only 2 TEs worth drafting, and a glut of O/D linemen. Prioritze the TE and 1st and hope, as the chances are the linemen will be around a bit (2nd 3rd rds). ...and what players can be used in other positions, or are listed as say a CB 78 and are really a FS 84. Sneaky, sneaky 2nd rounder stuff which will impact all future contracts with you team :)
Prolly TMI, but not really. I would rather share and keep folks than have folks get flustered and bolt.
Who needs Setherick and his way overated INT in 4.5 and that crazy **** Dis in 4.4? He was not really helping. Another one: Using only normal D vs no RB sets (5wr, 1/0/4, 0/1/4). No, you really do not want less DBs and more LBs (unless you gointo overides a la the LA Chargers vs Balt '18). He had good stuff, but he always mixed in something crippling.

:)
I can agree with that. INT is one of the attributes I place a "1" on when doing my draft chart, then remove in all positions. QB has a perm weight ;) It has value, absolutely, but with things parabolic, weights have a bigger swing in overall ratings by value assigned, so I remove it before noting my rating. Stupid and undisciplined teams never win lol.
Setherick's 4.5 INT weights for certain attributes, in regards to parabolics, are just too heavy :P
Some are also too light. But it should be noted: 4.4 crazy high Dis and no int. 4.5 crazy high int and no dis. Nah, JDB is a better coder than that.
Of course, all kickers can be stupid. Peyton says so.
