Adding rookies to depth chart after draft..

Is there a science to adding your newly drafted rookies to the depth chart for Training Camp?

I ask this because I'm not sure if it deters your Rookie from progressing if they are in the "wrong" slot.

In my short experiments, for example. I've taken players who should be better suited to play FS and put them there. Volatility wasn't a factor with these players and they stunk it up in training camp. I've noticed this with other positions lately with my teams also.
I feel I draft better than the average Joe (not bragging), just wondering if it's the players I'm drafting or like I mentioned, a science to placing your players in the proper depth order?

Thanks to all who are kind enough to respond,
Wolfkill

Depth chart or being active doesn't have anything to do with progression during training camp. Players are generated with a boom/bust path and the only thing that really makes a player go up or down quicker is coaching :)

i meant the actual coaching staff you hire lol. The better the coaches the quicker the player will get to the end product. I'm sure your coaching/ownership is fine lol

I don't know if this actually helps or not... but I remember hearing from somewhere that for the Preseason, for each position in the depth chart, you should put your players in order of their future rating. I may have caught it in a tutorial video under help?? I can't quite recall.

Bryson - Do you know if following that for preseason helps the development of players?

no the depth chart doesn't have anything to do with progression at all according to JDB. I've asked him before on the radio show and it's basically all predetermined how a player will turn out it just gets sped up by good coaches within the staff you hire. I will tell you on the current code that low currents are a much bigger deal than in past. In NCAA there was like four or five qbs that played during preseason with super low accuracy but high futures. It was ugly. I mean like 0 for 30 type ugly on all the players lol.
