Renegotiation

Is there a time in the season where renegotiations are no longer allowed?

In MFN-2, I wanted to renegotiate a contract and when I bring up the player card, I only have the cut button.

You can't renegotiate a player in the same year you signed him, which in the case of the first year of a league is your entire team.
