Is there even a definite effen way to determine the Best Available Athlete for a Draft.
I am so effen sick and tired of even attempting to try anymore because no matter what Player Attribute Weights I attempt to play, the league choices is dominated by Punters, Kickers, Fullbacks, and Tight Ends.

In a league that I have only 3 of 7 recommended Defensive backs, the AI determines that the most important position that I need is a ....... Effen TE to go with the 4 other TE riding the bench.
But wait, as I said, while having 3 of 7 recommended players of the secondary, the first Recommended Best Available at the position is 23 positions BELOW 7 TE, 9 FB, 14 Punters, and 7 Kickers.

I just spent 2.3 MILLION on a 4th string TE who I took in the 2nd round who can be a 3rd String FB at best.

You have a draft board, use it.

I am looking for the Best Available Athlete who I can adjust to the position best suited for him according to my team needs

During a draft, I consistently move players up and down on my manual Draft Board according to their potential and then their current.

What I do not understand is that no matter what Player Attribute I deem important at the time, Punters, Kickers, Tight Ends, and Fullbacks dominate the choices.

REALLY!!!?
Are these four positions the most important on a team?

Although I have never coached, I do know that one does not build their team around their punter.

Setting Player Weights and using the 'Download CSV' feature affords you all of the information that you could possibly need. I haven't used the AI picks since my first draft (before I discovered this).

I agree that there are way too many P, K, TE, FB in the draft class, but they are just superfluous. There are plenty of players available at the other positions, just ignore the ones you can't use. But... sometimes these "FBs" and "TEs" have attributes that may fit the mold of another position that you covet.

In any case, we all have the same class to work with, if the class is light on one position - maybe you take that 80 rated player at the position when there are 88s available at others. It's all about value and preparation.

Really?!!!!
I cannot tell you of the 6 leagues I am currently in which ones have "Suggested" the Best Available according to Team needs. I download the CSV, filter, and then base my selections on my choices while seeing my choices being lowered 3-4 rounds.

Really?!!!

TL/DR:

1) Set the attributes that make a player an "athlete" to 100
2) Set the auto draft matrix to 100 for all positions except kickers and punters
3) Profit

I'm certain JDB walked through this one once already.

The only way you can currently draft the best available player is to set up your weights so that the attributes you define as making a player an athlete are set to 100 and all other weights are set to 0.

Then you set all of the positions on the auto draft to 100 (except, assumedly, kickers).

This will filter all of the best athletes to the top of your draft board.

When a player at a position gets picked that position is now worth 99 instead of 100. That means that there is a 1% chance that any other position will be picked before it if two players weights are equal. This is probably the only reason to ever use the auto draft tools too.

Finally, this is definitely not a bug. This is a straight up enhancement that I wouldn't be in favor of because it would eff over new players that can't set weights.

Adding to what seth said, also set your "Goal Count" in the War Room settings to 0 for every position.
