Player slotted first on Depth Chart not a Starter?

I'm confused by something that happened in my most recent game (vs Buffalo) in MFN-73.

Two games ago I traded for a WLB (Ortiz) , and inserted him in the 1st position of the depth chart of SLB. When reviewing how he played (I gave up the mother load to acquire him) I found him without having contributed a single tackle. BUT Wait, there's more: or king further, I discovered he wasn't even the starter in the game.

So obviously I did something wrong, but I have no idea what.

I thought the first slot of the depth chart would be the starter, regardless of the players primary position, correct?

Thanks in advance for your help.

i think what happened was you had 47 players active so the game reset your active and inactive and the game made Todd Ortiz inactive and that is the reason he didnt get a tackle because well he didnt play which is hard to get any stats if you dont play.

Unless you had him as a starter at 2 positions and by doing that cancelled him out starting and/or playing at all.

Todd Ortiz = https://mfn73.myfootballnow.com/player/1060

"starter" qualification means they were out on the first play of the game for your offense or defense. It looks like your first defensive play was in the dime package, which means both outside linebackers were subbed in with DBs who would have gotten the starting stat.

He DID get in for 42 plays and No, I didn't have him as the #1 in two positions on the depth chart.

I also don't believe I had 47 active players (which I suspect is correct since he DID play).

I appreciate your response but I don't think any of those could be the reasons in this case? It's why I'm so puzzled.

Ok, THAT explains it Pefectly JDB!

Thank you. I KNEW there was a reason, I just didn't know what it was.
