nonsense

league 35, tucson vs. SF.

i dominated this entire game. i allowed 2 first downs in the first half. SF's QB was about 5 for 20, and they had about 25 rushing yards. suddenly, with 6 minutes left in the game, they can do no wrong. every pass complete, onside kick recovered, march down field, score 15 points in 3 minutes. my team? run,run,run,punt.. not what i gameplanned. second week in a row i've had a good lead and been screwed by three or four plays at the very end of the game.

i don't mean to sound bitter, but i've dropped $60 on this game so far, and i feel it should work consistently. i've thrown a lot of time at MFN, i gameplan a good bit of it myself. i don't expect to win every game, but what i've seen with all of my teams reminds me of the old days of football video games: my friends and i called it the "sympathy chip". from tecmo super bowl to bill walsh ncaa to early madden games: play the cpu, build a lead over 3 quarters, and then watch your team do everything to give it away. you wouldn't always lose, but you could always sense the exact moment that, no matter what you do, you are going to start to ****.

i've now played quite a few games in 6 leagues, and i get this feeling often. between that and the goofy time outs, my initial love for this game is failing. it is a GREAT game, way better than any other management sim, but i'm gonna think before i buy any more credits.

my apologies to SF's owner - i don't mean to be an *** about it, congrats for the win.

d.

Have you turned off the game's "run the clock" out settings and added rules for a better late game? There is no rubber band AI anymore.

Don't know if this might be the problem but,I got rid of the "Slow Down - Clock Killing Offense" setting after the same thing happened to me awhile back, but now it's score....score.... and score some more!!!!!
It may make me look like the bad guy running up the score, but it hasn't happened since.

Only thing I can say is....Take No Prisoners, Bro!!!! No Let Up!

The only thing that kicks in is that the offense goes heavy pass in hurry-up - which most of the game they were more balanced or probably heavy run. If somehow the heavy pass exposes strengths/weaknesses then that may explain the ability to come from behind.

One note, if you are considering taking advantage of the passing game's strengths, overuse of the pass does increase your QB's chance of injury (just as overuse of the run increases your RB's chance of injury) so take caution if you create a heavy or all-pass offense.

I do worry about that stuff, it's the risk of injury. I just try to keep it all balanced. But I'm always in attack mode. But that's life in the Pro's! It's why they get paid the big bucks!
