This game worth getting into as a new player or am I better off just playing Front Office football on steam?

This game is fun and worth getting into. There are a lot of complainers out there, which is normal with anything. But I should say this game takes time and effort. If you don't have it, it may not work for you. Having just one team is probably plenty if you don't have the time.

The game is well worth your time, particularly if you can find a group of fellow owners who play in a way you find both challenging and enjoyable.

The complaints that come up stem from the fact that, like any multiplayer game, meta strategies are tied to each version of the game. In a full commercial game these strategies, particularly when they exploit flaws in the way the game runs, tend to be patched out quickly. This then leads to a cycle of buffing and nerfing individual aspects of the game in question to try and keep it competitive and fun.

In MFN's case the time between the emergence of a meta and it being adjusted can be lengthy. We're in the longest gap between one iteration and the next at present. This can lead to there being a singular route, min/max strategies or cookie-cutter approaches to success, making the game less competitive and as a result less fun.

The problem here is that JDB (the game's sole developer) works on the game as a passion project and as such, progress comes at a glacial pace. Ultimately however, it's about the people you play with. Find the right people and it's better than any offline football management game, better than any alternate browser based game.
