TE can’t reach desired weight

By Lemon97

In National Football League run by RBParish I have a 6’0 TE and it’s 2nd season that he is not able to reach a minimum of 240lbs. He’s stuck at the 235.

Commanders have 5’11 TE weighing over 250lbs.

Is it possible that some players simply cannot reach desired weight? Or is it given by TE coach? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

When changing positions some guys seem to have more range than others, tho I’ve read elsewhere that there is a 50 lb swing either way from the “natural” original weight. I had a linebacker that apparently started as a defensive back but lacks coverage skill but had a pass rush so I tried to make a DE out of him. The league requires the 276 lb min weight and he maxed out at 265…so stuck at linebacker I guess…

clearly, the issue is not enough donughts and bacon grease.

Height matters from what I've seen but what matters most is the starting weight of the player. Some players also can gain lose 55 pounds while others struggle to lose 30. I have personal head-canon that these players who lose less weight have a different body build than others like broader shoulders, hams for calves etc.

Once a player stops losing/gaining weight week to week they will realistically only lose/gain 1-2 more lbs if any at all

I've wondered how to judge height in players, especially defenders. Is a 6'1" CB who's 191 lbs with good speed and coverage going to be much better than a 5'11" CB with similar ratings? Will a 6'5" LB play better than a 6'3" guy? Same thing with FBs or TEs that get converted to o linemen - if they're shorter but still strong will they be as good? No idea if I'm overthinking that.

I don’t think it has any obvious impact like you think it should. Taller targets should win “jump ball” situations, but I don’t think height is accounted for in those rolls, it is strictly the skill ratings. Same with “stockier” shorter players should get more leverage on the ground for blocking/tackling etc, but I’m pretty sure they don’t. I don’t even think weight factors much into the whole tackle breaking/momentum equations.

+/- 50 pounds from ideal starting position weight seems to be the max movement from what I've seen. I have seen a few players move more than that but it's because they started at a heavier weight. I have rarely seen an LB converted from DT get under 260

It sounds like the TE above started as a WR and won't hit the weight. But a 5'11" FB would

Agree with the 50ish lbs. I find it helps to achaive that 50 by stepping a player into the weight to be gained.
EG: FB -> TE -> C; TE -> C -> G or T.

Never had any luck taking a te to a wr or a wr to te.
Lots of good results taking a te to a fb or rb. Especially to a RB.
Lots of good results taking a rb to a wr and vice versa. I wont use a WR shorter than 5'11".
lastly, seems every DL is actually an LB, and most LBs are better DEs in the post v4.5 to current 4.6 draft pools.

Losing weight is apparently easy. For weight gain, I suggest stepping that player into the weight gradually over a season (or 2 if going from say TE to a RT).
