Re: Severe liability plays and punt returns

The two CB3 - 2 LB Blitz plays out of the Nickel have not only been "neutered" in game version 4.2, they have been turned into severe liabilities, auto-ing "hot reads", whether they have been scouted or not. What is the purpose of leaving them in the play book? If they get activated by accident or oversite, it can be very costly. They are no longer any kind of asset in the playbook, just a liability and problem.

Ive had one punt return go the distance in version 4.2, and that was a miracle, lol. I dont expect to see another in 4.2. That is another area that got over-corrected. Yes, there were way too many PR's for TDs in the previous game version, highly unrealistic, but now its swung over to the opposite and still is unrealistic. Is it that hard to not over do it one way or the other?

To do the comparisons, there were 10 TDs off punt returns last season in the NFL, The top punt returner, Agnew/Lions, avgd 15.41 on 29 returns, with 2 TDs.

The top punt returner in the MFN Paydirt League, which just finished the season, with a minimum 25 returns avgd 7.5 yards (1/2), zero TDs, and had a long return of 20 yards. There were zero punt return TDs for the entire league and season. So, zero vs 10 in the NFL.

On kick returns, there were 7 returned for TD last season in the NFL. The top kick returner was Cooper/LAR, 27.4 yd avg on 34 returns and 1 TD.

Again, to compare to the recent season in Paydirt, the top KR avgd 45 yards, had 4 TDs, and there were a total of 23 KOR TDs. A little out of balance wouldnt you say? Thats 3 times the number of KOR for TD in the NFL.

Is it possible to get nearer the NFL statistics being generated on punt & kickoff returns?

You are absolutely correct and then there's the flip side of it where I see over-correction on stymying offensive plays/strats/running patterns/WR behavior.

No doubt the 2 blitzes were absurd or every punt return begeting a result of a TD in older versions but as you said now it's become the blitzes get destroyed upon sight and punt returns of any consequence are as rare as the Dodo Bird.

It's a swing of the penduluum one way or the other...maybe middle ground can occur, too.
