no no... the pass just gets knocked down by a dude 10 yards behind him. common sense, am i right??

I think this thread is about a different thing - but this one frustrates me more.

for it to happen either a) the QB has to be throwing a frozen rope that only elevates 8 feet off the ground for 30+ yards or 2) the DB jumps up and knocks a ball down that is 14 feet off the ground. I guess its just a product of a 2D game trying to replicate a 3D game.

These virtual players created are independent entities. Imo alot of the game problems are very intertwined .

One example is the throwing speed and ball trajectory . It would effect knock downs and allow time for multiple dbs to converge. As well as leave guys wide open on fly patterns for the drop.

Right now I am abusing all these facts in the test league. To gargantuan passing numbers .

Here's a bit on deep passing I posted months ago. The only thing that stops it is a dbs jumping 15 feet in the air....or more likely a 40 yard laser is all qbs throw maxing out at around 8 or ten feet.

This is in repose to a fast td someone posted.

Yes, we all know players run too slow, but I will touch on something else that has been bothering me since way back.

That is the ball . This was a 40 yard laser tossed by a 70 arm strength qb. The only way I could get the calculations to match the distance traveled by the ball in the time alloted showed top arm strength for an nfl qb . Or one could easily say the ball is moving to fast.

Compare that to the 5.12 fourty of the wr with genuine B grade speed and the ball is moving way too fast.

This QB had to launch the ball with a mere 15 trajectory angle at a speed nearing 60 mph with the ball reaching a total height of 15 feet.

Those numbers , imo, should be closer to 20 angle, 55 mph, and 20 feet, but that is with 82 speed guys running 4.5 fourties.

Take all that in to account and the speed of the ball should drop approximately another 21 percent .

One or the other has to happen. Slower ***** or faster players , cause I never see coverage ever working right as the closing speed of cover guys are diminished . Thus making speed overly valuable along with accuracy of a QB.

The value of acceleration is depreciated as well as every technical rating of a player. We will continue to make smaller and smaller windows as adjustments are made to compensate for this discrepancy of player speed to ball speed. All ratings involving the pass game will rely on elite numbers in order for routine success .

Except arm strength and speed of course, but we just got a boost or in arm strength but now there are mysterious knockdowns not tallied. To make the numbers fit. It is cause every QB is rocketing lasers all day long. Probably the reason QBS don't throw real bombs . ....just 45 yard lasers that never go above 15 feet and reach the recievers in less than 2 seconds.

This is the reason deep passes were so easy to complete in the past...no time for closing speed....not to mention our cover guys only play "trail techniques " in man and are way too slow to get to their respective zone assignments .

They still don't get there, but the recievers just drop it now or the qb under throws it .

I bet this bleeds in to punt returns and kick returns also , but that's for another day.

Oh yeah...that why punish and courage worked so well under the old code also""

a lot of this is being tested right now but I have no idea where we are going ....coverage seems better but the path of the ball seems the same.
