Something to look at is, did you give the LB Coach a contract during the current season? If you did, you will have to wait until next year for the promotion. One contract/coach/year...unless...you, first, fire the LB coach. He will be available the next sim to hire as your DC. You must outbid everyone though so he can get the DC job. It could be a gamble if anyone else is looking for a DC.

I have done that ONCE.. it was not fun ad was sweating bullets that id lose him. luckily that time it worked out for me.. but never again would i put myself in that situation

I have done this once, also. I had an aging HC and didn't want to lose the "head coach in waiting". I offered the HC position to my OC and on the next sim had to pay a king's ransom to get the HC back as my OC. It worked, but you are right Dash, it was a very nervous time, as there was not anyone close to his coaching ability available!

Do coaches retire or grow and when do they retire and how fast do they grow?

Coaches are similar to the players - some go up and some go down. Most younger coaches tend to go up over the seasons and throughout the season (older coaches tend to go up, down, or stay same). I keep track during the season as to which coaches go up or down. If you click view (on coach card), click on progress, you can see which way he is trending.

As for retiring, when they hit around 53-55 years of age, that's when I start to worry. However, some will continue for many more years. You never know when they will call it quits.
