Draft Pick Values

Curious - shouldn't the Power Rankings be proportionate with #1 pick values or are the power rankings just something fun to put out there? For example, in MFN 31, my KCY team is ranked 17th in the league and my first round draft pick for next year is valued at 684 points. 9 of the teams ranked ahead of me have the same or higher trade values (#2 - same, #3 903, #5 903, #7 1283, #8 same, #10 903, #11 1283, #15 903).

It makes it difficult to trade in the early part of the season because I can't trade future picks for experience and talent now (i.e., trading for top talent on the trading block) that these higher ranked teams have out there. If I am 0-8 in Week 7 and my 1st round value goes up - I don't need the FA anymore.

Not sure if this makes sense, but I would expect that a team's trade value should correspond with its ranking in the preseason, and its record throughout the season.
#1 - 551, #2 551, #3 551, #4 684, #5 684, #6 684, #7 903, # 8 903, #9 903, #10 1050, #11 1050, etc.

Draft pick values are based on what pick number (or "slot") it is, not on how good your team is or was.

Your draft pick "slot" is based on the record of the team that originally owned the pick, not how good that team is or was.

Your expected draft "slot" for future seasons is estimated based on your team's record in this and previous seasons, not on how good your team is or was.

The power rankings are based on neither your record, nor how good your team is or was. They seem to be completely random at times, and therefore should be used for nothing more than a conversation starter.

A team's record does not always correlate to how good they are, and none of them correlate to the power rankings. The only thing that matters in determining the value of a draft pick is the slot it falls into, and the only thing that matters in determining that is record (or expected record).

Yeah, power rankings are just for fun and for conversation starters, I don't like their accuracy to be anything more than just a fun thing to follow. It's doesn't have any more weight than any NFL power raking list would.

Thanks - that makes more sense.
